On July 1st, almost half of the bills that were passed in the 2021 legislative session became effective. This includes some of the more high-profile bills from the session.
AB59: Raises minimum legal sales age for tobacco products from 18 to 21
AB396: Police can only use deadly force if there is an “imminent” threat
AB400: Removes “per se” limits on non-felony DUIs involving marijuana
AB412: Expanding delivery services through driverless vehicles
SB194: Expanding the study of different communities in public schools
SB386: Granting laid-off hospitality workers the “right to return” to work
All Bills-Effective July 1, 2021
The next date that many bills will become effective is October 1, 2021
