This week, Governor Sisolak made several appointments to state agencies and boards:

Nelson Araujo was appointed as Nevada’s Infrastructure Advisor. In this role, Araujo will work across all agencies and levels of government to ensure the State is competitively and successfully navigating the acquisition and implementation of federal dollars from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Allison Genco was appointed as the state’s first Public Health Resource Officer. Senate Bill 424, sponsored by Governor Sisolak during the 2021 Session of the Nevada Legislature, created a Public Health Resource Office that is charged with analyzing the existing public health infrastructure of the State and making recommendations related to unmet needs, opportunities for federal and private grant funding, and improved coordination between providers of public health services.

Governor announces Public Health Resource Officer appointment

Malinda Southard will be the new Executive Director of the Patient Protection Commission. The PPC was created through legislation introduced by the Governor in 2019, and in 2021 the Commission was moved to the Department of Health and Human Services to better support patients and connect more closely with the data and resources of DHHS.

Governor Sisolak announced 64 appointments made to the State of Nevada boards, commissions, and agencies during the months of February and March.
