In a press conference this evening, Governor Sisolak announced a new state mandate that requires everyone to wear a mask while in public. The mandate will be done through a directive, but did not speak of imposing criminal or civil penalties. He also introduced a new state slogan: “No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service.” Children ages 2 to 9 are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings when in public spaces. Children ages 10 and above are required to wear face coverings when in public spaces. There are exceptions for those who are engaged in outdoor work or recreation such as swimming, walking, hiking, bicycling, or running, when alone or with household members, and when they are able to maintain a distance of at least six feet from others. The new directive goes into effect this Friday.
Governor Sisolak mentioned that further guidance regarding the eviction moratorium and a possible extension or modification will be released in the coming days.
