Daily Update- May 20, 2020 Interim Health and Las Vegas City Council

The Interim Healthcare Committee met today. They had a COVID themed agenda and with presentations from the state. As of this morning, 107,166 tests have been administered and we are at about 3,990 new tests a day and working to do more community wide tests. 110 new positive cases a day being reported to the state and since April 21 we have been seeing a declining trend in hospitalizations for COVID-19. There has been a declining test positivity rate since April. As of this morning, NV is at a 7.9% positivity rate which is below the WHO’s recommendation of 10%. Notes from the meeting are attached. 

The Las Vegas City Council also met today and heard a report from City Manager Scott Adams. He spoke mainly about a program that the City has created using CARES Act funds that will go directly to small businesses as grants. The money is meant to help with meeting new health guidelines for reopening.
