Daily Update-May 14, 2020 Rainy Day Fund, DETR and Gig Workers, and Restaurants in Gaming Establishments

Today Governor Sisolak held a short meeting of the Board of Examiners and approved pulling roughly $400 million out of the reserve “Rainy Day” account to help with the state’s budget shortfall. There was no additional discussion, other than to confirm that about $120 million would be left in the account

DETR announced today that people that are self-employed, independent contractors, and “gig workers” will be able to apply for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) starting Saturday, May 16th.  More information can be found here:
